Desktone’s cloud-based desktop-as-a-service platform is letting Paladin Building Services deploy virtual desktops in the cloud. Desktone’s Desktop Cloud architecture is helping redefine VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) solutions by lowering upfront costs, eliminating complexity and making it easier to scale systems.

CaseCentral, a provider of cloud-based eDiscovery software, has rolled out the new self-service CaseCentral CloudConnect software for the CaseCentral eDiscovery Platform. The company’s SaaS option is designed to simplify management, integration of electronically stored information and data.

The Scribe Online cloud integration platform is helping one of the world’s largest sports leagues for kids cut cost and complexity for integration.  In the project Upward Sports is using Scribe Online to tie customer registration data into its business-critical, cloud-based apps from Microsoft.

More companies will adopt cloud development practices in 2012 as IT organizations build and deploy software in the cloud, according to CollabNet. The result will be new lifecycle models for software design, development and deployment.

Pac-Van, a provider of permanent and portable buildings and storage containers, is using Informatica Cloud to automate and accelerate integration between sales, CRM and fulfillment systems.  The project lets Pac-Vac automate and accelerate data sync between Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Dynamics ERP and the McGraw-Hill Construction’s Dodge Network.

SnapLogic is teaming up with MDM experts at Orchestra Networks to bring master data management to cloud integration. The cloud-based MDM offering, called smartdatagovernance.com, allows non-IT users to quickly setup and maintain a single source of the truth for business-critical data in the cloud, and keep on-premise and cloud apps in sync.

In 2012, Dell Boomi will offer a cloud-based master data management (MDM) capability to extend its cloud integration platform. The new MDM offering aims to let customers quickly build and manage a cloud-based master datastore that will synchronize data across multiple cloud, SaaS and on-premise apps.

A just-released survey finds that as cloud integration becomes more important to enterprise IT, it has become business critical to SaaS and cloud services providers. Nearly 90% of cloud providers said integration is important to winning customer deals. IDN speaks with the survey’s authors.

Virtualization may be the big winner in 2012 IT budgets, according to one eye-popping survey.  More than half of IT decision makers will spend at least 25% of budgets on virtualization projects next year; and 40% say they may spend one-half or more of their budgets. The survey from Quest Software interviewed more than 200 organizations.
