Gazzang Adds Encryption, Cryptography to ezNcrypt Cloud Security

Gazzang Inc., a provider of cloud infrastructure software has updated its ezNcrypt data security solution to better protect enterprise data in cloud, virtualized or on-premise environments. New features include public/private key encryption and integration with leading hardware security modules.

New features include public/private key encryption, integration with leading hardware security modules and support for FIPS 140 Level 3, (the current version of the Federal Information Processing Standards for cryptography modules), according to Eddie Garcia, director of development for Gazzang.

Gazzang’s ezNcrypt solution uses dual authentication keys to auto-encrypt MySQL database transactions and data at rest, without changing existing applications or databases, officials said.

“As more government and commercial organizations move critical business processes to the cloud, they must address more stringent security and compliance requirements,” Garcia said in a statement. 

In specific, the latest ezNcrypt release provides:

  •  Engine Support  -- Lets ezNcrypt deploy into existing infrastructure where hardware accelerators or custom engines are used to meet high security and performance demands.
  • Public/Private Key Encryption -- Uses industry-proven PKI technology for strong security in addition to standard passphrase protected keys.
  • HSM Integration -- Meets the increased security needs of financial and government organizations, including FIPS 140 Level 3 compliance.
  • Rightscale MySQL EBS Support -- Encrypts MySQL databases running Rightscale MySQL EBS templates. 


Gazzang ezNcrypt is now certified to integrate with the Thales nCipher line of hardware security modules, officials said. Thales makes data encryption hardware and software for the financial services, high technology manufacturing, government and technology sectors.  ezNcrypt complements the Thales hardware solutions for encryption processing and protection, he added.
