Endeca, SAP Team To Deliver BI ‘Information Visibility’

SAP's Xcelsius provides business dashboards and data presentations from spreadsheets and corporate databases, and allows users to share then live through Crystal Reports, Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, and the Web. Xcelsius Engage provides end users with access to up-to-the-minute company data in a simple and actionable interface.
By integrating Xcelsius with Endeca’s platform, Endeca said it will combine data visualizations with the Guided Navigation experience for analytics-intensive search applications. That means customers don’t have to rely on IT or analysts to produce reports; instead, Customers can access the pertinent information they to make business decision, Endeca officials said.
SAP's BusinessObjects Intelligent Search provides “federated” search, allowing users to search all information sources from a single, secure search box. Results can be re-ranked for relevance and clustered by people, companies, and other concepts extracted from the full text of results. Further, SAP BusinessObjects Intelligent Search supports automated alerts on new items to better drive business-driven initiatives such as competitive analysis, data fusion, compliance, customer intelligence, and more.
By integrating SAP BusinessObjects with the its Endeca platform, Endeca will provide customers one way to access a number of sources, including secured sources that can’t be indexed, open sources on the Internet, and multiple Endeca search applications.

At least one analyst is bullish on the SAP-Endeca partnership, noting the firms are taking a fundamentally new approach to accessing and analyzing enterprise-wide data.
“Putting data in context to improve daily decisions is the Holy Grail for CIOs and their executive peers,” said Bruce Richardson, chief research officer at AMR Research, in the statement. By combining Endeca’s search applications with SAP’s rendering and visualization tools, customers can more quickly and easily leverage enterprise information so they can make better decisions everyday, Richardson added.
