AmberPoint's BTM solution seeks to provide IT and LOB managers 'a business transaction safe net,' company offcials said, which will identify indepth detail about the transaction, and store data to allow precise search and trend analysis for individual endtoend transactions.
"These days, the larger enterprise applications are almost always compositions of multiple disparate components. This can lead to a dramatic lack of Transactionlevel Visibility," Ed Horst, AmberPoint vice president of marketing IDN. "And when transactions fail, and no one knows precisely why, that leads to panicked Firedrills. But the problem is that even as IT tries to resolve the problems, there is often not enough context or useful information to make the fix quickly.
In some cases, Horst added, IT doesn't even have 100% control over some endtoend transactions, such as those that pass through to a fulfillment house, or 3rd party partner.
AmberPoint is offering the following tools to help avoid such fire drills over business transaction errors.

AmberPoint also offers a unique ability to look inside the transaction 'envelop' without impacting transaction speeds, SLAs or privacy policies. This policybased data capture improves quality of transaction information available to IT and LOB in several respects:
How does AmberPoint look inside the transaction envelop without slowing down systems? "We basically observe the message and make a complete copy of the [transaction] message and write the complete message to disc. We are not in the [compute] stream, so there in negligible impact on performance. Now the customer has a complete record of the transaction data, which would not be available by simply monitoring the header. This is all done in microseconds and out of band to avoid any latencies."
AmberPoint's BTM upgrade also let customers quickly search their dataset for specific terms, or even the third party connected to the transaction. You can even set the search capabilities to scout for trends you may not know to look for. "In many cases, IT just doesn't know what is causing an error in a transaction, to or from Amazon, for instance. The error has to occur in order for IT to know what to look for. Our BTM approach lets customers run exception management searches to find trends in errors, and once IT knows the error it needs to be on the lookout for, it can express a policy to look for it proactively."
