Oracle has launched a new release of the Oracle Event Driven Architecture Suite (Oracle EDA Suite), a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, to help businesses rapidly respond to constantly changing market conditions. Oracle's latest EDA release leverages integration technologies from its BEA Systems acquisition.

The new Oracle EDA Suite features Oracle Complex Event Processing 10g Release 3 (Oracle CEP 10g R3), formerly BEA WebLogic Event Server, a comprehensive complex event processing platform that includes a Java application server based on OSGI technology, according to Oracle execs.

Enhancements to Oracle EDA Suite and Oracle CEP include: distributed and local event caching, including tight integration to Oracle Coherence's distributed data caching services; event record and playback; a visualizer administration console; clustering capabilities; and extended Java development tooling.

The new release will let customers better detect, filter, analyze and correlate diverse business events including stock trades, order placements, and service requests so they can make informed decisions in real time, an Oracle executive added.

"The automation of business processes has caused many organizations to undergo an unprecedented transformation during the past few years," said Amlan Debnath, senior vice president, Server Technologies, Oracle, in a statement. "As a result of this transformation, our customers needed to respond in real-time to bottlenecks and opportunities within and across these automated processes. Oracle EDA Suite addresses this need and enables organizations to become real-time enterprises."

Oracle is positioning its EDA Suite as a key part of what it calls "today's intelligent enterprise." Oracle says this approach "expands beyond the service-interaction model of SOA to manage event-based interactions and complex event analysis in real time." The Oracle EDA also offers personalized dashboards, reporting and alerting capabilities.

The full set of Oracle EDA Suite includes design, runtime and management components:
  • Oracle JDeveloper
  • Oracle Business Activity Monitoring
  • Oracle Business Rules
  • Oracle Enterprise Service Bus
  • Oracle JRockit
  • Oracle Complex Event Processing

  • Oracle EDA Suite 10g Release 3 is the latest in a series of products that integrates technology from Oracle and BEA Systems and illustrates the progress Oracle has made combining the software from the two companies.

"Oracle CEP 10g R3 is the Cadillac of event-driven solutions in the market…and is the industry's first and only low-latency deterministic Java container and runtime for EDA." said Stephani Smith, Director and Vice President, Data Mining Group at Tradeweb, in a statement.
