Open source SOA firm WSO2 is helping database programmers and DBAs play a more central role in SOA projects with release of WSO2 Data Services tool and online training.
WSO2 Data Services tool provides easy access to data via Web services, and the WSO2 online training gets users up and running quickly, the company said.
In specific, using the WSO2 Data Services tool, database administrators and database programmers can contribute to a company's SOA by creating WS-style Web services and REST (representational state transfer)-style Web resources based on enterprise data in as little as three minutes, the company said. The only thing the database administrators and programmers need to know is the industry-standard SQL language, according to WSO2.
"Many enterprises want to use Web services to tap data enclosed in databases, corporate applications, and even Excel spreadsheets. But until now, SOA solutions have required a knowledge of Java programming to pull data into a Web service--limiting involvement to IT team members with this expertise," according to a company statement.
WSO2 Data Services Tool is built on the Data Services functionality within WSO2 Web Services Application Server.
