To ease infrastructure development projects, Oracle Corp. is shipping Oracle TopLink 11g, with tighter support for WebLogic Server and open Java frameworks, including Oracle's Application Development Framework. TopLink is a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Oracle TopLink 11g, is an advanced object-relational persistence framework based on the open source EclipseLink project, also brings "seamless integration" with Oracle Coherence, and more flexible Object-XML binding, Oracle officials said.

"With its enhanced persistence features and compatibility with other key infrastructure software, Oracle TopLink 11g helps developers significantly ease the development process," said Dennis Leung, vice president Software Development-Oracle Fusion Middleware, in a statement.

In specific, Oracle TopLink 11g includes:
  • JPA-enabled Data Grid -- To provide "seamless integration" with Oracle Coherence and enable applications to take advantage of in-memory data grid capabilities through the standard JPA programming model. This feature also lets devs leverage extreme performance without having to learn a new programming model.
  • Flexible Object-XML Binding -- To support "efficient manipulation" of XML through a Java domain model using JAXB. This feature also supports the ability to interact with unstructured data through service data objects, reducing the need to integrate different systems.
  • Support on Oracle WebLogic Server To enhance support for JPA applications, JAXB, and SDO (application and container managed). Support also extends to Oracle Application Server as well as IBM WebSphere and Red Hat JBoss.
  • Out-of-the-box compatibility with Oracle ADF 11g and Spring Framework -- To cut training costs and provides rapid application development.

Oracle TopLink 11g is free to download for evaluation and use during development, under the Oracle Technology Network license, the company said. A production license is included with all editions of Oracle Application Server and Oracle WebLogic Server, or can be licensed separately.
