Swedish auto finance company Volvofians has agreed a deal to use technology developed by Software AG to help with the role-out of SOA platforms.

The sister company of Volvo will use Software AG's CentraSite for SOA Governance and metadata management to accelerate the delivery of new financing products and services. Volvofians had been moving towards an adaptive and reusable IT infrastructure over the last few years and has used a wide range of technical developments.

Volvofians officials said the Software AG's CentraSite technologies will help is bring visibility and support for its loosely-coupled approach to application development, help it better update and revise SOA services, and synchronize service changes throughout their IT environment.

"CentraSite delivers the visibility and control that we need to manage a very granular, dynamic and fast-paced IT environment," Johan Nordin, IT manager of Volvofians. "This will allow us to deliver on new business requirements faster by rapidly reconfiguring existing systems into new processes and applications."

Dr. Peter Kuerpick, board member of Software AG, noted Volvofians pioneering and customer-centric use of SOA. "What forward-looking organizations like Volvofinans recognize is that governance is a very powerful tool. Rather than constraining users or adding layers of bureaucracy, governance is really a vehicle for applying the power of SOA in a very controlled and targeted manner," Kuerpick said.

In another recent customer win, Software AG secured a deal with telecoms giant T-Mobile to integrate SOA into its worldwide organization. T-Mobile International - which has a large presence in the US - will develop IT governance methodology and tools in conjunction with the SOA specialist in order to accelerate the introduction of new products and tariffs.
