SOA Software, an Integrated SOA Governance Automation vendor, has acquired LogicLibrary, a leading SOA Repository and Governance vendor.
The combination of the two companies expands the end to end lifecycle approach for SOA Governance, and also creates an integrated SOA automation platform, and allow enterprise IT to accelerate adoptions of SOA, and ensure the rapid delivery of services.
These two companies will come together, and create new possibilities for a flexible endtoend SOA Governance Lifecycle to better support federation of SOA assets and policies across all major platforms," said Brent Carlson, SOA Software Senior VP of Technology and formerly CTO and cofounder of LogicLibrary, told IDN.
Listen to IDN podcast with Brent Carlson.
"We've seen the needs for SOA Governance from operational runtime perspective, as well as the need to make sure what they build is being done correctly, in compliance with current policies and requirements. These two needs are coming together as one complete lifecycle, and that is what brought these two companies together" Carlson added.
SOA Governance done properly can ensure great cost, agility, and risk management benefits, and help make IT and business professionals make the "right" SOA architecture and SOA Governance, SOA Software added. This, coupled with the rapid maturing of the enterprise SOA environment, has driven companies to demand a comprehensive solution for all of their SOA Governance needs, SOA Software said.

Launching Repository Manager 6.0
Within days of the acquisition, SOA Software also announced the availability of Repository Manager 6.0 previously Logidex. Repository Manager 6.0 enables enterprises to understand what services and other software assets exist, where theyre located and how each fits into a companys business and technical landscape. By providing a context for understanding and assessing existing software assets, Repository Manager 6.0 enables customers to rapidly develop, govern and deploy services within the SOA service lifecycle.
Repository Manager 6.0 is SOA Softwares development governance platform that simplifies the creation, integration, management and promotion of enterprise assets and services throughout the complete development lifecycle. Its strong integration with leading application development environments, federation with all major runtime registries like IBM WSRR, HP SOA Systinet, and other UDDI registries, and its integration with SOA Softwares Policy Manager Workbench enables customers from a single point of control to rapidly deploy services and other software assets within the SOA enterprise lifecycle.
Repository Manager 6.0 extends SOA Softwares integrated SOA governance leadership position by adding key capabilities via expanded partner product integrations and increased governance automation flexibility. Repository Manager 6.0 enhances the governance administration user experience through the Configuration Designer, an Eclipsebased graphical development environment. Now from a single point of control users can easily govern and manage services as they progress across the service development lifecycle and provide key feedback at critical checkpoints across the service lifecycle.
"This acquisition combined with our ability to continue to drive product innovation extends our leadership in the Integrated SOA Governance Automation market and makes SOA Software the strongest candidate to succeed as the platformindependent leader in this fast growing market," added Paul Gigg, SOA Software's CEO, in the statement. "Now customers have a clear choice for governance across all assets, lifecycle stages, and constituencies that span distributed and mainframe environments"
The addition of LogicLibrary's technology extends SOA Software's SOA interoperability capabilities across governed development platforms such as IBM, Microsoft, JBoss, SAP and others.
"The combination of SOA Software's governance products, with LogicLibrary's strategy to provide federation with other leading repositories, creates a single solution that provides unparalleled lifecycle and policy governance across all major platforms," said Alan Himler, CEO of LogicLibrary.
SOA Software did not provide the financial details of the LogicLibrary transaction.
