SOA Expert Warns SOA Not a Hammer for All Nails
Many enterprises working on SOA projects are assuming wrongly that SOA can be applied to every situation that it experiences, one SOA consultant says.
Kyle Gabhart, Director of SOA Technology for Web Age Solutions, says a little SOA at the right points and situations in an organization can go a long way to improving the company.
Gabhart noted that the expense of service orientation projects cannot always be recouped and, in some cases, SOA can actually do more harm than good. He added that 'selective' service orientation - can lead to better and quicker results. He spoke at SOA World Conference in New York in June.
Meanwhile, another of the conference's speakers Pierre Fricke has stated that Open Source has made "significant" inroads into middleware deployments in the enterprise, and that Open Source options are exploding for SOA.
